We Are Focused On Our Games: Audu Paul

The captain of Edel FC, Paul Audu has praised the efforts of his teammates this season as they shrugged off relegation worries to mount a momentum for NNL super 8 playoffs.

The midfielder made this known when he spoke with the club officials website edelfc.com.ng. He attributed the rise in fortune to God’s favor and determined hard work from his fellow players and great dedication from the coaching staff and management.

“When we came back from Christmas break, it was not looking good for us. We were second from the bottom in the league standing. We spoke to ourselves as a group, the coaches and management talked to us on the need not to go on another relegation. The implications were spelt out for us.”

“We gave over 100 percent in the training sessions and the same energy was used to play Vandrezzer FC in our first match of the year in Uyo which ended 2-1 in our favor. From then, we never looked back as God helped us to go on an 8 game unbeaten run that had 6 wins and two draws. Trust me, having relegated with the team last season, I know how it feels and few of us that were in Kano for that Relegation playoffs will not like to feel that again.”

The Kaduna born player was cute with his response when asked about Playoffs hopes.

“For now, our attention is in our games. Yes, we have entertained the idea of the possibility of promotion via the Playoffs. Mathematically, it is not in our hands. We are only concentrating on our remaining matches and seeing how to get maximum points from them and see how far it can take us. But we are grateful for where we are on the table, it could be worse but also it can be better. In all we give God the glory.”
