Elisha Kevin’s Lone Goal Secures First Win For Edel FC

It was a new year and new vibe for the galloping zebra of Awka as a first half strike from Elisha Kevin gave them a well deserved win over visiting 1472 FC of Lagos. It was the first win of the 2024/2025 NNL season.

Edel FC came into the game needing all three points as they have lost 2 games at a bounce. Coach Ndubuisi Ndah made 6 changes to the side that lost to Smart City in Lagos as Joshua Lawrence and Elisha Kevin made their bout for the NNL side.

After sizing each other for strength and stamina, it was the home team that took the lead, top striker, Ezeh Chidiebere received a ball that he beautifully controlled and laid it to the part of on-rushing Kevin to place beyond Adams in 1472 FC goal post.

A few minutes later, it would have been two from the same man again. Mbah Izuchukwu did so well near the flank for a cut-back that Elisha Kevin couldn’t dispatch with the goal at his mercy. Chudy Onyeka had a 25-yard screamer that narrowly missed the mark. That was as good as it got in the first half.

The second half was a phase of few chances. The Away team looked for a way into the game but were repelled by the Edel FC defence led by Ejike Uzoechi. The Awka based side could have doubled their lead again but Obi Emmanuel couldn’t find his mark after good work from Mbah Izuchukwu again.

That was as good as it got for either side till full time. Up next for Edel FC is a trip to Ogun State, to face the defending NNL Champions, Beyond Limits FA, in Ikenne.
