10 Man Edel FC Maintains 100 Percent Home Record In 2024

It was a hard fought victory as Edel FC dispatched visiting Calabar Rovers by a lone goal to maintain a perfect record at home in the year 2024.

Coach Willie Udube made 2 changes to the side that started away to Coal City with Onyia Henry and Nwaorisa Onyebuchi coming in for Dennis Nlul and Anya Arinze. The two nearly gave us the lead inside two minutes as Onyia’s cut back was narrowly missed by Nwaorisa.

It was a cagey affair in the first 45 minutes as both teams resulted to speculative attempts at best. The second half started with the Galloping Zebras on the ascendancy. But were made to wait till the 89 minute when a Calabar Rovers defender handled the ball in the area. Up stepped the captain, Paul Audu who sent the visiting goalkeeper the wrong way to hand us all three points. Onyia was given a second yellow for a bookable offence for early showers.

That was our 5th straight home victory in 2024. The result meant that we remain 3rd on the table, 5 points adrift of second place Beyond Limits. Up next for Edel FC is an away game against Abia Comets on Saturday 20th of April at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
